Everyday Theatre: Game Master

Learn: To write a recount about Everyday Theatre

What Happened?: Two girls from Everyday Theatre came to our school to teach us about family violence through drama.

Slogan: Every Child has Hopes and Dreams

The drama that happened yesterday was very intense and kind of relatable. I really liked how each character had a problem that they needed to work on, eg: Dave (T’s Dad) was abusive and needed to look for help, while Mirawa (T’s Mum) needed to pay more attention to T and give him more support.

I feel like one of the characters that needed to help T more was Jack (T’s Bff). Even though Jack showed his support and concern, he never told anyone about T’s problems at home. He should of told his mum so she could have got into contact with T’s mum or even a social worker.

I think another character that needed to support T more was Brian (Mirawa’s Boyfriend). Even though he tried to bond with T (and got rejected) he just left it at that and never tried again. I think he should of sat him down and talked about the current situation. He should of showed his genuine support and if he did that, I think T would of opened up more to Brian.

In conclusion, I think the show they performed was very heartfelt and had a deep meaning. They even gave us cards with the "What's Up" and "Kidsline" phone number for when situations like this happen.
