Activity 1
On your blog tell us which of the icons you would most like to visit in your chosen country. Be sure to tell us why you have chosen it!
Answer:
I have chosen Torres del Paine National Park from Chile. I chose this icon because the moustain is just stunning. It kind of reminds me of Mount Fuji.
Activity 2
Let’s imagine that you have been asked to host a visitor from another country. They are going to come and stay with you for three days. During that time, you are expected to take them on a tour of New Zealand and show them some our most famous icons. Where would you take them? If it was me, I might take them to Mt Cook in the south island, to the Sky Tower in Auckland and to Chums Beach in the Coromandel. What about you? On your blog, tell us which three famous places in New Zealand you would go with your visitor.
Answer:
The first place I would take my visitor to is Rotarua. To relax in the hot springs.
The second place I would take my visitor is The Sky Tower. I might even take him/her to Fortuna.
The last place I would take them is Mission Bay at night and treat them to some delicious Ice Cream. Yummy!
Bonus Activity
Take a picture of yourself standing beside a popular place in your community. It can be anywhere that’s pretty popular in your area (e.g. a store, a restaurant, a marae, etc). On your blog please tell us about the landmark. What is the name of it? Where is it? Who goes to it?

  1. Hey Aaliyah,
I would go to Nigerria falls in Canada. I would go because it is the largest waterfall in the WORLD!. I would want to see the view and how tall it is.

If I had the chance to go to Rarotonga I would take my family because it is a beautiful place. I wish to go there one day.

    1. Hi Aaliyah and Jerome,

It's great to see you commenting on each other's work. You have both really thought carefully about this activity and made some great suggestions for places to take your visitors as well as places to go yourself. Jerome, I can highly recommend Niagara Falls. It's pretty stunning! I went there as a young girl and I can still remember it. I have also had the chance to visit Rarotonga and it was a wonderful trip. The beaches are really pretty and there is plenty to see and do. I took my son, Aronui, and he spent the week building suncastles on the beach and going for nice walks through the middle of the island. There is a huge mountain in the centre of the island that you can climb. We did our best to climb up and over it and almost made it but, unfortunately, Aronui was getting bitten by mosquitoes so we didn't hike the entire thing.

Overall, I can highly recommend both places! I can also vouch for Mission Bay and the Sky Tower. It's been years since I went to Mission Bay but I had a great time when I went. It's a really lovely beach, isn't it? Speaking of the beach, I am planning to go the beach today. Are you guys going to hit the beach as well? It's such a hot, sunny day. It feels like the perfect place to go and have fun with my family.

Enjoy your last few days of fun with your families before school starts again. I'll look forward to seeing you at St Pius X early in Term 1. I'll come in to hand out certificates and prizes for the Summer Learning Journey.

      See you guys really soon!

      Cheers,
      Rachel :)

    Hey Aaliyah,
Rarotonga sure is a relaxing and beautiful place. If I could bring someone with me I'd bring my whole family because they all wanted to go to Rarotonga.
