School Days - Day 10

After meeting with the local family yesterday you are inspired to learn more about how people live in different countries. You and your family decide to go out and visit a local market. When you’re there you meet a student who tells you all about what it’s like to go to school in their country. The student also gives you a page from their diary that shows you what a typical school day is like for them.
Here is an example of a school diary for a student from Germany.

Activity 1
Think about your school and what you typically do in a day. Compare it with the diary from the German student. What is similar? What is different? In your blog, tell us:
  1. Whether you would rather go to school in New Zealand or in Germany
  2. Why you feel that way
Answers:
One thing that I have noticed that was different was that Germany and my school both learn about different subjects.

1. I think I would rather stay in New Zealand.
2. I would rather stay in New Zealand because I have a great teacher there who teaches me everything I will need to know in the future.

Activity 2
Think about your favourite subject at school. In your blog tell us:
  1. The name of your favourite subject
  2. Why it is your favourite subject
1. My favourite subject in school is Reading.
2. I like reading because it teaches me more about other subjects, such as writing. Books teaches me new words to add to my vocabulary. Which is very helpful.

Bonus Activity
Once you have looked at the other school diary, it is time for you to make one of your own. What do you in a normal school day? Use the template below as a guide and post your own personal ‘Day in the Life of…’

  1. Hello there Aliyah,

I like that you want to stay and go to school in Nz rather then going to school in Germany.I agree with you Mrs Middleton is a lovely teacher I remember when she always growled at those who does not do their work and mucks around.. but she does growl at them for a good reason though. Okay I think that's enough chit chat about you lovely teacher... anyways great work and keep it Up! your nearly getting to the end of the summer blogging journey.

  3. Hi Aaliyah,

It's so lovely to read that you have such a wonderful teacher at St Pius X who is teaching you everything that you need to know about the world around you. I am sure that Mrs Middleton will be so touched to read your post!

I am also sure that she will find it interesting to read about the differences in the school days between Germany and New Zealand. School starts very early in Germany but it also finishes quite early. Part of me would love to finish up my day by 1:00 p.m. but the other part of me wonders what I would do all afternoon. I like going to work for the day and then coming home to play with my son, make dinner and enjoy the evening together. It's a really nice balance between work/home life.

Speaking of home, I hope that you are having a very nice day today with your family/friends. I will look forward to checking back tomorrow to see if you've had time to post another blog. I really hope that you will!!

    Cheers :)

    Rachel

  4. Hi Aaliyah,

My name is Madeleine, and I live in Canada. I really enjoyed reading your blog! I understand why you would want to stay in New Zealand; I love my teacher too! Reading is also my favorite subject. I can tell that you read a lot, because your writing is very polished and uses vocabulary masterfully. I love your writing style! Keep on writing, and have an amazing day!

  5. Hey Aaliyah,
I would stay at school in NZ because you finish at 2 and you start at 8 and we do fun things and we learn more things even though Germany has a lot more than NZ but still.

    Great Blogging
    Keep going

  8. Hey Aaliyah,
I would go to Germany because you learn more things and you get more time and you get to do English.

I'd rather stay in NZ because Germany has lots of things to do and you finish at like 3:00 PM.

    Great Blogging
    Keep It Up

    Jerome:)
