Astria Gaming Experience
Today, my partner, Lini and I played a new game meant for learning called, Astria. In the game, we were given missions where we had to think critically and choose wisely.
“Students don’t learn much playing this game called Astria – Countdown to Impact: Their time could be better spent doing other things”.
I partly agree on this statement because I found it difficult to understand some of the sentences that they used and so most of the time we were guessing. But I still think that my partner and I did great on completing three of the rooms in an hour.
So on a scale from 1-5, I think my partner a and I did pretty good (3.5)

Camp Experience 2k18
TEAM PLAYER
Last week, from Wednesday to Friday, my class went out to camp in Ferndale. We were put into groups and were assigned activities like, Stream Science, Outdoor Cooking, Archery, Air Rifles, Problem Solving and Blast of the Past. In this photo, we were doing an activity from Blast from the Past. We were basically playing Hockey but with a tennis ball and newspaper.
I wanted to share this photo because it showcases the value of teamwork. Annalisa and I worked together as a team to try and get a goal. Even though the other team won, it didn't matter because we worked together!

100 Words Challenge: Cherry Blossom Tree
Words: 97
The Cherry Blossom Trees hovered over me as I walked slowly down the damp concrete pathway. I was glad I wasn’t at home, home was chaotic and there were too many people there, fighting and arguing. I needed to get away, I needed to be alone.
I was walking down the endless petal filled pathway until I realised something. Cherry Blossom Trees were beautiful and made any space look alot better. I wish I had one at home, then maybe I’ll like to be there more often, looking after it to keep me away from the trouble.

He stared at the only life in his hands, it was his wife’s favourite flower and he was determined to keep it alive, unlike his late wife. All the loss in his life felt like a boulder bolted to his shoulders, why did it have to be his wife? He couldn’t believe what was happening to him, he didn’t want to live life anymore, he wanted to die.
He really wanted to kill himself, tears flowed down his eyes and his sight was blurry. He wiped away his tears and looked at the flower. It was still bright in this time of death, he noticed it’s hope, it’s innocence and decided he wouldn’t die now, he’ll live on for his wife’s sake.

Welcome to Term 4!! - Holiday Writing
On October the third, during the first week of the holidays, I went to ‘West Wave’ with my family (cousins, nieces/nephews, siblings). The day was pretty hot and humid so it great that we were at the pools. I packed an extra set of warm clothes (since it would be pretty late when we would come out of the building) and some snacks since we would be swimming around for a long time.
I walked cautiously into the slippery changing room and got changed into my swimwear. The biggest swimming pool, which is the most used one was not very packed, so I decided to get into the water as quickly as possibly (with a few of my cousins) and enjoy it while I can. The water was warm and it felt very calm for some time ... until the waves came in. I was in the deep side (which was a little too deep for me) and whenever a wave would form, it would crash over my head and I would be sent underwater, so I quickly swam to the depth which suited me the most.
I swam around the main pool, spending time with my cousins and playing pool games. After a while, a bit later into the afternoon, I got bored and decided to look after my nieces and nephews for a while in the kiddy pool. They were only small but they had a lot of energy in them, like a battery. I played with them in the very warm water for a while until they had to go home. When they left, I decided it was time to have a shower and get changed since it was getting colder.
I finally finished changing and came out to a table to have some chips. I finished eating the salty snack and we all left to go back home.

Narrative Writing
Learn: To write pre asset our narrative writing.
Prompt:
Emily looked at the dark clouds outside, it was about to rain and she still didn’t know if she should leave. About a week ago a tornado hit her small cottage damaging it and killing everyone she loved, her younger brother and her dear mother. Her father was working in the fields but he never returned. She had no one to go to and so she stayed in the empty cottage by herself, feeding and looking after herself. But once she ran out of resources, she knew she had to leave.
Emily got a small suitcase with some clothes and snacks and carried a thin blanket. She started to walk down the grisly path, looking down at the dirt. Emily was walking for quite a long time and wasn’t paying attention to her surroundings, the last time she had looked up at the path ahead of her, everything was the same, but now she noticed that she was in an forest. It was like she transported into an entirely new place without even knowing it.
She looked around, it was all green and uneven, anyone could of tripped and sprained their ankle if they weren’t careful. As Emily walked further into the green abyss, she heard a faint howl. She looked around nervously, “Was that a wolf?” She was curious, but she let that thought blow over. Emily continued on her way, but about five minutes later she heard another howl, but it was much more clear. Her senses heightened as she looked around the forest, then she saw it... a wolf!
The wolf was quite small and it’s black fur looked tampered with, but it’s big, sharp teeth made up for the wolf’s small appearance. Emily was dumbstruck, she didn’t know what to do or where to go, so she did the first thing that came to mind, run. She ran as fast as she could, watching her step just in case she tripped, and not far behind was that wolf.
It seemed like forever, but she finally made it out of the green abyss, but she still wasn’t alone. Not too far away was a town, even though it was dark she could still see some smoke and light coming from a bonfire. She had some hope, so she decided to keep on running. She was running at lightning speed and as she looked behind her she didn’t see the wolf, a smile crept to spread on her face, but then she tripped.
She hit the ground and felt the pain rushing through her body. “I think I sprained my ankle,” she cried in pain. She could hear the wolf’s panting coming closer. This is how i’m going to die? Wow. Emily was in a daze for a while and when she came back to reality (in the moment of panic) she screamed, “Ahhh!” She kept on screaming, so she could try and scare away the small wolf and to also get the attention of the nearby villagers. This carried on until she saw the wolf sprint off, but it wasn’t because of her constant screaming, it was because of the light and voices coming closer to where she was.
The voices were women coming from the bonfire, when they saw poor Emily lying on the grass in pain, they knew they had to take her to their village and treat her. One of the mothers (a mother of 5) voluntarily took Emily as her own after Emily told her about her sad, sad life story. Emily lived happily with that family and received an education, she spent her time looking after and playing with her new siblings, but she never really forgot about that horrible incident or her family.

Everyday Theatre: Game Master
Learn: To write a recount about Everyday Theatre
What Happened?: Two girls from Everyday Theatre came to our school to teach us about family violence through drama.
Slogan: Every Child has Hopes and Dreams
The drama that happened yesterday was very intense and kind of relatable. I really liked how each character had a problem that they needed to work on, eg: Dave (T’s Dad) was abusive and needed to look for help, while Mirawa (T’s Mum) needed to pay more attention to T and give him more support.
I feel like one of the characters that needed to help T more was Jack (T’s Bff). Even though Jack showed his support and concern, he never told anyone about T’s problems at home. He should of told his mum so she could have got into contact with T’s mum or even a social worker.
I think another character that needed to support T more was Brian (Mirawa’s Boyfriend). Even though he tried to bond with T (and got rejected) he just left it at that and never tried again. I think he should of sat him down and talked about the current situation. He should of showed his genuine support and if he did that, I think T would of opened up more to Brian.
In conclusion, I think the show they performed was very heartfelt and had a deep meaning. They even gave us cards with the "What's Up" and "Kidsline" phone number for when situations like this happen.

Prompt: ...but I didn’t understand the instructions...
Challenge: We have to try and write a story with a hundred words.
Today in Maths Class, I got in trouble. “But I didn’t understand the instructions” I said to the Maths teacher when she asked me why I didn’t do the assignment. “Your instructions are so confusing,” I whined. “How am I supposed to know how to *reads off maths sheet* multiply the factor of X by the square root of Y?!
My teacher looked at me and asked in a cold voice ‘Why didn’t you ask someone to help you?” I thought about this question for a while before I could give her an answer, “I didn’t want to distract anyone during the test.” I smirked, I thought I was going to get away with not doing the test (on purpose) until my teacher said. “Go to the Peace Room.”

Solar Power☀️
Solar Power - Inquiry
(Aaliyah & Claudia)
Last week, our class was assigned to create a presentation with a group about Solar Power, Hydro Power or Wind Power.
We chose to do Solar Power because it sounded interesting.
Yesterday, we presented our work in front of the whole class and we were rated by our teacher, Mrs Lauchlan. We got 69/100
I was very proud of Claudia and I, I think the only thing we needed to work on was talking about our slide, not reading it.
I hope you enjoy our presentation about Solar Power!

Today, we had a learning assembly. So basically what we did is showcase our learning throughout this term. Everyone in my class were put into 3 groups and were assigned to create a stop motion about a certain subject, eg: Art, Holy Spirit etc.
Our subject was Geometry.
Our video is very short because we spent a lot of time wasted on the map and coloring it in, but I still hope you enjoy it. 🌈
